THinking that ORacle's bid for Peoplesoft would slow Microsoft's own Database business prompted Microsoft to consider a 'blocking' stake in Peoplesoft or a merger with SAP ! But managing the possibility of allowing customers to continue using other databases and also on finding out that IBM had no interest in SAP, caused Microsoft to back off....
